All of us at LHSE remain outraged and saddened by the ongoing acts of violence including the recent events in Georgia that stole the lives of eight people six of which were Asian women. The intersectionality of racism and sexism cannot be ignored, and the impact on Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and others is profound. We offer our deepest condolences for lives lost and trauma experienced.

We stand with the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, along with other diverse communities, in recognizing and condemning systemic xenophobia and racism.

We must work together and with our communities to educate and support an environment of cultural intelligence and inclusion. Educating ourselves while learning with and listening to our peers is a step to advancing racial equity, and we hope you will join us.  Following are just some of the ways to join this effort:

• Acknowledge and denounce anti-Asian hate crimes;
• Interrupt anti-Asian racism and other racist rhetoric or comments;
• Interrupt or question generalizations; and
• Invest in community and donate to AAPI causes and businesses.

In recent weeks, GoFundMe.org created the AAPI Community Fund to support tax-deductible donations toward grassroots organizations that aim to empower and protect the AAPI community, with initiatives such as increased community safety and support for those affected by violence.
